Lapland War
A powerful Finnish war film brought to life through compelling performances, remarkable production design and a story rooted in Finnish history.
Directed by acclaimed Finnish filmmaker Aku Louhimies, Lapland War (Lapin sota) tells the story of the Lapland War of 1944–1945, the dramatic final chapter of Finland’s wartime history. Based on Antti Tuuri’s novel Rauta-antura, the film brings together an international cast, including Luukas Niskanen, Sannah Nedergård, Volker Bruch, Peter Franzén, Amelie Blauberg, Ronja Orasta and Elli Arstila.
Following its theatrical premiere on 23 October 2026, the film made an extraordinary impact, attracting over 100,000 cinema-goers in just five days and setting a remarkable record for Finnish cinema.
Our work focused on set photography – capturing the atmosphere of the production, the cast and the moments behind the scenes, preserving the visual story of an ambitious cinematic production.
A glimpse behind the scenes of one of Finland’s most talked-about film productions.
